Meet Pure SPC: The New Material that’s Even Better than LVT

Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) has been the go-to affordable and durable flooring material on the market, but now… there’s a new kid in town, and his name is Stone Plastic Composite (Pure SPC).

Word on the street is that Pure SPC is supposed to be the next-best option to real wood or ceramic tiles. However, we actually think it’s better than the real thing! Today we’re spilling all the details on why you should consider using Pure SPC for your next project. Let’s get started…

What is Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) Flooring?

Pure SPC flooring is made with three layers that create strong yet attractive flooring. The top layer is made of high-quality vinyl. Manufacturers use the most advanced embossing and etching technology to create a gorgeous look.

The middle layer is a plastic composite with natural stone additives for a solid core (virtually indestructible). Finally, the last layer includes a balancing paper that absorbs the subflooring imperfections and creates a moisture barrier.

What does all that mean? Pure SPC is an uber strong flooring that is completely waterproof… oh, and looks super high-end!

Pure SPC vs. LVT

While LVT is a great option for rentals and family homes, because it replicates the look of natural wood or stone and is much easier to maintain, we think Pure SPC is an even better option. Here’s how the two compare across a variety of categories:

Appearance: Manufacturers make Pure SPC with much more advanced technology for creating stone or wood-like surfaces. LVT, although it looks realistic, doesn’t feature the thickness and texture of Pure SPC.

Price: Although Pure SPC is a fairly affordable option, it is more expensive than LVT. However, that investment is put to good use, as you are paying for sturdier core material.

Installation: Pure SPC is easy to install with a click-and-lock system. Some LVT flooring options do come with the same system as well, while others may require glue or nails to install.

Water resistance: Pure SPC and LVT both score high in the water-resistant category. They are equally great options for high humidity areas or splash zones, like kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. (Note: While Pure SPC flooring is guaranteed to be 100% waterproof, you will still want to be sure to clean spills promptly to prevent the possibility of mold or mildew growth, which can happen on any surface!)

Dent Resistant: Pure SPC outperforms the softer LVT material in being dent-resistant, largely thanks to the natural stone additives in the core.

Extra Benefit: Pure SPC is also sturdier underfoot, forgiving to subflooring imperfections, and reduces the echo in your home. And yes, it does all this without compromising on style. We love it!
